As reported by the Department of Veteran Affairs, there are approximately 2 million women veterans in the United States. Texas has the second largest veteran population in the United States, and the largest women veteran population with more than 168,000 women veterans living in the State of Texas. While both men and women veterans face a number of challenges when returning to civilian life, women veterans face additional risk factors for poverty, homelessness, unemployment and suicide.
The W.A.V.E. Campaign program is designed specifically with the needs, safety, and privacy of women veterans in mind. There is a great need for programs of this type to serve the women veteran population. To address this need, the W.A.V.E. Campaign’s solution is to advocate for women veterans and empower them to rebuild their lives after military service.
